My film podcast dream that never got off the ground

Really loved old horror movies. Wanted to make a podcast about them. Bought a nice microphone last fall. Set up a corner in my apartment for recording. But when I tried to speak into the mic, my mind went blank. Hearing my own voice played back made me cringe. Cutting out mistakes felt like a huge chore. Realized I was too shy to share it with people. So I just stopped. All that gear is boxed up now.

Remember trying to make a YouTube channel about bad horror movie trailers. Could not get past the editing phase. Listening to my voice over was painful. Just quit and sold the camera.

Everyone hates their own voice though.

That voice recoil is so real, pretty much everyone hits that wall. My own podcast gear is still in a closet from two years ago, complete with unused pop filter. The whole kit just sits there judging me.

The gear judging you, like @miles_hall said, is a whole modern vibe.
