Remember my buddy tried to build a coffee table after watching a bunch of videos, thought he could skip the basics. He messed up the joints so bad the whole thing wobbled like a loose tooth. His dad, who does woodworking, said almost the exact same thing your shop teacher told you, davis.noah. He told him you can't cheat the fundamentals, like measuring twice and cutting once. My friend had to take the whole thing apart and start over, but it finally turned out solid. It really is one of those things you have to learn by doing it wrong first, I guess.

Seriously, he took the whole thing apart? That's some serious patience right there. Most people would have just shoved it in a corner. Guess it really shows how much those basics matter, huh?
