My woodworking dream died when my table saw kicked back a board at me
I took a weekend class last year to build a cherry side table, and on day two the saw threw a piece of oak straight into my chest. Bruised a rib but no real damage, just scared me enough to put all my tools in storage. Has anyone else had a project go bad that made you step back from a hobby you thought you loved?

My uncle lost the tip of his ring finger on a jointer back in '03, and he still jokes he's got a built-in bottle opener now. That bruise might fade but the fear sticks around longer, doesn't it? I tripped over a cord and sent a half-finished rocking chair flying across the garage once, just sat there staring at the wreck for twenty minutes. It's wild how one bad moment can make you question if the hobby is worth the risk or the cost of new undies.

Jump right back on the horse though, right @sage308? That's the trick. I've got a buddy who won't touch a table saw anymore after a kickback scare, but he just switched to hand tools and loves it even more. Sometimes you just gotta find a new way to do the same thing without the heart attack.
