Went back to my hometown bakery last week and saw my old dream sitting behind the counter

I used to dream about opening my own little pie shop in Portland after high school. But there was a 45-year-old woman running the place with such calm confidence I realized I had buried that thought years ago. Has anyone else had a random moment like that where you see your old self in someone else?

Hit the nail on the head but missed the real point. You didn't bury that dream. Life just got loud and crowded and you pushed it aside to deal with other stuff. Seeing that woman wasn't about seeing your old self. It was about seeing what could still be there if you cleared away the noise. You gotta stop framing it like some sad thing from the past and start asking what's stopping you from walking into a kitchen today.

Real talk, that hit me. I have a client who used to paint. Stopped for like fifteen years. Kids, job, all that noise. She picked up a brush last month and cried happy tears. It's still there. Waiting for you to clear the table and just start.

I read this article once that said our brains actually store creative skills in a different way than regular memories. Like they don't fade the same way. So that painting ability is still in there, just dusty. Your client is proof of it.
