Heads up about those old hydraulic filter housings on the 2600 series
I had a long talk with a guy named Pete at the marina equipment supply in Biloxi last Wednesday and he told me his crew found metal shavings in a filter housing that looked clean on the outside... he said they almost sent it back out until they cracked it open and saw the damage inside. Has anyone else had a near miss like that with a housing that looked fine but was actually junk?

Wait, you're saying you actually have to crack them open to really check? Honestly that's a real eye-opener, I used to just wipe down the outside and call it good but this totally changes how I look at those housings.

A good wipe down is plenty if you're not having any issues with it!

Agree completely, I used to just wipe down cases and call it good until a buddy showed me how much gunk builds up inside over time. Started cracking open my own gear to actually clean inside and it made a huge difference in how everything ran. You don't realize how much dust and grime collects in there until you see it for yourself.
