Old mechanical gauges vs new digital ones - stuck with my choice
Back in 2019 I had to decide between replacing the old mechanical pressure gauges on my dredge with digital ones or keeping the originals. I went with mechanical because I didn't want to deal with batteries dying mid-shift on the Mississippi River. Three years later and they still read true, while my buddy's digital setup crapped out after two flood seasons. Any other guys here prefer the old analog stuff over the fancy screens?

Man tell me about it, I'm still rocking mechanicals on my boat and they've outlasted three different digital units my buddy went through lmao. That flood season comment hit home, a little moisture and those screens just give up.

Oh yeah I went full analog after my GPS screen crapped out during a storm last summer. Swapped to a simple mechanical compass and never looked back, thing just works rain or shine no fuss.

Carry a spare compass in my hiking bag for this exact reason, @mark_carr7. Watched a buddy's GPS unit fog up and die on a damp trail, but my cheap plastic compass just keeps spinning. Have you ever had a digital thing fail on you in the middle of nowhere?
