Swapped my cutter suction head for a different angle on a sandy job last Tuesday
The production rate jumped by nearly 30% with less wear on the pump, has anyone else seen that kind of gain from just changing the head angle?

Man that "nearly 30%" jump got me thinking about how I've been doing it wrong my whole career lol. I swear half the time I'm just happy if my gear doesn't break down before lunch. Changing the head angle sounds way smarter than my usual approach of just yelling at the pump until it works better. Maybe I should actually try adjusting things instead of relying on pure stubbornness and bad luck.

What if the real problem isn't the head angle but the fact nobody bothers to check if their pump is even running right in the first place? I see people tweak one little thing and then brag about a "30% jump" but they never mention what else they changed at the same time. Half the time it's just the placebo effect or they finally cleaned the air filter after six months of dust build up. You keep yelling at your pump and it keeps working, that's not "doing it wrong" that's a proven track record. All this fine tuning stuff is for guys with more money than sense, real operators get by on stubbornness and bad luck just fine.
