Switched from manual logbooks to tablets on the Yazoo last summer
I used to scribble everything on waterproof paper but kept losing pages in the wind. Now I use a cheap tablet in a Pelican case and it saves me like 20 minutes of data entry at the end of each shift. Has anyone else made that switch and found a good mounting setup for the cab?

Yazoo is the tug right, not the river? Had a buddy who kept calling it the Yazoo River and the coast guard guy got real annoyed during a inspection. I use a Ram mount bolted to the dash with a swing arm, keeps the tablet steady even in rough water. The key is a short USB cable that won't get snagged on the shifter.

Heard the Coast Guard gets picky about boat names because of that river mix-up all the time.

Ha, I gotta push back on that. Honestly I think the Coast Guard has bigger things to worry about than whether your boat name sounds too much like a river. They're out there saving people in storms and chasing down drug runners, not counting syllables on your transom. Plus half the rivers in the US are named after boats anyway, so what's the line? Sounds like that buddy of yours just got a grumpy inspector on a bad day. The real issue is people naming their boats stuff that's impossible to read over the radio, not confusing a tugboat with a waterway.
