That cheap hydraulic oil I bought off Craigslist cost me a pump rebuild

Figured I'd save $50 on hydraulic oil for my dredge by buying a 5 gallon bucket from some guy on Craigslist. Ran it for about 3 weeks before the pump started whining real bad. Took it apart and found sludge and water mixed in with the oil. New pump cost me $1200 plus a weekend of swapping it out. Anyone else get burned buying secondhand fluids?

Sounds like a user error, not a fluid problem.

Wait, is this really that deep though? Like someone got confused about a setting or a button press and suddenly it's a huge deal? I've seen people panic over stuff that takes 30 seconds in a manual to figure out. Half the time people just skip reading the basics and then blame the tool. Not saying there aren't real bugs out there, but come on. A lot of these "issues" are just folks not bothering to learn the interface. If you can't handle a simple adjustment without calling it a design flaw, maybe take a breather.

Exactly. "User error, not a fluid problem" pretty much sums up half the complaints I see online. People act like they need to hack into the mainframe just to change a font size or figure out what a button labeled "settings" does. I swear, someone could release a product that literally does everything for you and someone would still post a 10 paragraph rant because they couldn't figure out how to turn it on.
