That day the river gave us a surprise gift
We were working a small channel job up near the Canadian border, just a routine clean out. About three hours into the shift, the pump started making this weird sound, like it was chewing on rocks, so we shut it down to check the intake. When we pulled the cutter head, there was a huge, twisted piece of old logging equipment jammed in there, must have been down there for 50 years. It took the rest of the day with torches and a come-along to get it free, but the boss let us keep the scrap value, which came out to nearly $300 each. It turned a boring job into a good payday and a wild story. Ever pull something really weird out of the mud that made your whole week?

Man, that beats my best find by a mile. The weirdest thing I ever pulled up was a shopping cart full of concrete blocks. Looked like someone's failed art project. What did you even do with that much scrap metal?

Sold most of it to the scrapyard down on Main Street, @avery_ross. Got a decent payout for the weight. Kept a few interesting twisted pieces, thinking I might make a garden sculpture or something. That concrete block cart of yours sounds way harder to get rid of.

Oh man, that reminds me of my buddy who dredged up an entire motorcycle frame. Took him three trips just to get all the rusted pieces to the yard.

That concrete cart sounds like a real pain to move.
