That moment last month when my suction line sucked up a whole shopping cart in the Sacramento River delta

I was running the cutterhead at 80% and heard a clunk that sounded like a car crash, pulled up the ladder and there was a rusty cart tangled in the chains with a tire still on it, has anyone else pulled up something that stupid?

Tried a trick my buddy taught me - run the cutterhead in reverse for a few seconds before pulling up the ladder. Cleared a tangled tire iron out of my chains like that once, saved a ton of headache. Hope that helps next time you snag something dumb.

Pulled up an old bicycle frame once, still had the rusted chain and basket on it, looked like it had been down there since the 90s. The funniest part was a little plastic baby seat strapped to the back, like someone was trying to commute through the river. Spent 20 minutes untangling it from my debris chain, and the whole time my buddy was screaming "just reverse the cutterhead" from the boat. I didn't know that trick yet though, obviously.
