Vent: I thought that new polymer cutterhead was just hype until my old steel one cracked in half.
We were pulling up old river rock near Redding and hit a solid shelf we didn't see on the sonar. The steel head split right at the weld, but the crew on the next barge had the polymer one and it just flexed and kept going. Has anyone else made the switch and seen a real cut in downtime?

Switched yet? Game changer.

Wait, the Stockton channel?

That weld failure is a classic weak spot. The polymer ones seem to handle that shock loading way better, from what I've seen on the channel near Stockton.
