Appreciation post: Hit 200 square feet of perfect taping in one day
Everyone says you can't tape and mud more than 150 feet a day without sacrificing quality. But last Tuesday in Denver, I knocked out 200 square feet on a bedroom job. No bubbles, no ridges. It surprised me because I always bought into that limit. Has anyone else found their own ceiling higher than the usual numbers?

That number is more about what most guys can do consistently, not some hard limit. 200 feet in a day is solid work but it sounds like you were on a good job with easy corners and no interruptions. I have hit 180 before but the next day I was slow and had to fix mistakes. One good day doesnt change the fact that rushing leads to sanding and rework later. The real pro move is sticking to a pace you can repeat every day without burnout.

Hitting 200 in a day feels good but @mason_lopez is right that one big day doesn't prove much. I've seen guys push hard and then spend the next week fixing stuff they messed up. Keeping a steady pace every day is what actually saves you time in the long run.

Yeah I'm pretty sure my record is 180 one time and then I spent 20 minutes the next day trying to remember where I put my tape knife... turns out it was in the mud bucket. Maybe the real goal is just not losing your tools.
