Found a way to keep my mud pan cleaner on a big ceiling job

Started putting a strip of duct tape along the inside edge to catch the drips, and it saved me from constantly wiping it down. Anyone got other tricks for keeping things tidy when you're working overhead?

That duct tape trick is clever, @paigep85. Do you still use that 14-inch pan even on a textured ceiling, or does the extra weight get to you?

Gotta say that's a solid move. I've seen guys use a strip of plastic sheeting taped to the pan for the same reason, but the duct tape is probably less hassle. The real game changer for me is just using a bigger pan when I'm on a ceiling, even if it's a bit clumsy. Less overflow means less mess to start with. Honestly, half the battle is just accepting you'll be cleaning something at the end of the day no matter what you do.

My old foreman swore by a 14-inch pan for ceilings, even if it's heavy. You're right that it cuts down on the main spill zone, so you're only dealing with drips. I mean, the cleanup is still there, but it's way less of a fight.
