My foreman tried to sell me on hot mud for everything and I fought him all week

He kept saying it's faster and stronger than premix, so I finally tried it on a whole bathroom remodel. Man, he was right about the drying time no sagging on ceiling patches but man does it set fast you gotta move quick. Anybody else fought against using hot mud for years only to realize it has its place?

Man you nailed it with "gotta move quick" because that's the whole thing with hot mud right there. I fought it for years because I liked the slower working time of premix for my taping and bedding. But once I tried the 45 minute stuff for filling gaps and patching holes I never looked back. Just mix small batches at first until you get a feel for how fast it kicks off, especially if it's hot or humid in the room.

Has anyone else noticed how temperature and humidity affect the setting time more than people warn you about? It’s a real game-changer once you figure out that hot mud kicks off faster in a warm room, like @seth_shah said. Mixing smaller batches is the only way to avoid waste until you get that rhythm down.

Huh... feels like overthinking drywall mud to me honestly.
