Watching a guy in Phoenix tape a 12-foot ceiling seam with a single swipe changed my whole approach to mudding.

He used a 14-inch knife with a slight bend he'd made himself, and the mud just flowed on perfectly flat without any ridges, which made me realize I'd been fighting my tools instead of tuning them for the job.

Wow, talk about a life-changing home improvement hack. I've been wrestling with my putty knife like it owes me money. Guess I need to go give my tools a pep talk and a bend.

Honestly @violaramirez, that bend trick is a total game changer for real.

Wait, is bending the knife really that helpful? I've always kept mine straight like @riley_wood84 mentioned, and it works fine for me. Maybe some tools just need a different approach.
