Had to pick between cleaning the break room fridge or facing the mold monster from last month

So at my warehouse gig in Austin, we had this ancient fridge that nobody touched. I dared myself to peek inside after three months and found a Tupperware from February with something fuzzy growing in it. I grabbed the hazmat gear (thick gloves and a trash bag) and tossed it in under 30 seconds. The smell was brutal but I got a free soda out of the manager for handling it, lmao. Has anyone else faced a fridge that bad?

haha the fridge hero title is legit though! but hold up - how bad was that green cloud situation? like was it just floating there like some kind of alien lifeform or did it actually spill out when you opened the jar? i gotta know if you had to do a full hazmat cleanup or just a quick toss and run lol

omg YES that's EXACTLY what happened at my old office in Dallas. I opened the staff fridge and a jar of pickles from like last May had turned into a science experiment with this weird green cloud floating inside it. I swear I almost threw up but at least I got to brag about being the fridge hero for a whole week.

Twenty bucks says that green cloud was just normal pickle juice with some mold trapped in it. People always overreact to old fridge stuff like it's gonna crawl out and attack you... but really it's just a jar of pickles that sat too long. I mean yeah it's gross and you did the right thing tossing it, but calling yourself a hero for taking out the trash seems like a stretch to me. You opened a jar and threw it away, that's like basic adult stuff. The real heroes are the ones who actually clean the whole fridge out and scrub it down.
