Got called out for a flickering light in a 1950s house in Tacoma and found a junction box full of old, crumbling knob and tube splices wrapped in electrical tape.

Ever notice how many problems come from just ignoring stuff until it breaks? That old wiring is a perfect example, out of sight and out of mind until it starts a fire. We're all guilty of putting off the small fixes.

My uncle's place in Spokane had the same scary setup. That old cloth wiring just turns to dust over time. Did you get it fixed safely?

Honestly, that "out of sight, out of mind" thing is so true. I see it all the time with old houses. People just keep adding more lights and outlets onto wiring that was never meant for it. You find these scary splices in the attic where the old cloth insulation is totally gone. It's not just a small fix, it's a full rewire waiting to happen.
