Hit 2,000 hours of service calls this month and it finally clicked
I crossed 2,000 hours on my service van meter last Tuesday. That number surprised me because I started tracking just for tax reasons. Turns out I spent about 800 of those hours just driving between calls in the suburbs around Denver. It made me realize I should batch jobs by neighborhood way more carefully. Now I group three to four calls in the same area instead of taking random ones all over town. Has anyone else tried batching their route and seen a big change in time?

Group your calls by zone on your map app before you head out and save those gas receipts. I cut my windshield time by almost a third just by stacking three stops in the same subdivision.

I actually read a study last month that said delivery drivers waste like 40 minutes a day just bouncing between random spots. That adds up to over 150 hours a year, which is basically a whole work month gone. Grouping calls by zone is smart but I also use the weather radar on my map app to dodge construction and traffic jams. Saves me even more time than just stacking stops does.
