Pro tip: A customer made me realize I was overcomplicating panel labeling

I was swapping out a panel last Tuesday for a 70 year old lady in Oak Park. She watched me for a minute then said "why do you need all those numbers when the lights are right there?" I just laughed but then I started thinking about how I spend 20 minutes mapping circuits with a toner when I could just flip breakers and mark them by room. It hit me that quick visual labels make more sense for the homeowner anyway. Anyone else find a simpler way to label a panel that doesn't take forever?

Heard from my buddy who does service work, he had a similar thing. He was at some old house and the homeowner just pointed and said "that one's the kitchen, that one's the bathroom." Saved him a ton of time.

Wait @jessica130, so your buddy actually showed up and the homeowner didn't even know what room was what?

Is it just me or do people get weird about labeling stuff once they've lived in a place forever?
