Looking through old repair logs from my shop in Tacoma, I saw a pattern with 2008-era LCD TVs.
I found a note that we replaced over 30 bad capacitors in Samsung LN-T4665F models in just one year. The whole line had a known issue with cheap caps from one factory. It's wild how a single faulty part could cause so many identical failures. Anyone else remember dealing with that specific capacitor plague?

Wasn't that the same era with the bad caps in some Dell motherboards? I read a whole article about how a bad batch of electrolyte formula caused it. Honestly, it's crazy how one cheap part can ruin a whole product line.

Oh yeah, that was a huge deal... but it wasn't just Dell. It hit a ton of brands in the early 2000s because they all used the same bad capacitors from a few suppliers. The faulty electrolyte would dry out and the caps would bulge or leak, killing motherboards and power supplies. I remember it being a problem with a lot of off-the-shelf motherboards too, not just pre-built systems.

Yeah, like @morgan.rose said, one cheap part can really blow up a whole company's reputation.
