A passenger in a high rise swore the elevator was haunted because it stopped on the wrong floor.
He told me, 'It keeps opening on 14 when I press 12... the ghost wants me to see something.' I checked the selector tape and found a tiny piece of packing foam stuck in the reader head from the install. Anyone else had a 'ghost' turn out to be a simple piece of junk?

That packing foam story is a good one. I had a call for a door that kept unlocking itself at night. The tenant was convinced it was a prank. It turned out to be a single pine needle from a Christmas wreath stuck in the strike plate, keeping the latch from fully engaging.

Love those simple fixes. Had a "haunted" thermostat once that was just a dead bug in the sensor.
