Am I the only one who thinks the new code for fire service in high-rises is a total overreaction?

Had a job in Seattle last week where the inspector failed us for a 2-second delay on the Phase I recall. It's a safety feature, not a magic button, and this nitpicking just jacks up costs for everyone. What's the most ridiculous code fail you've seen lately?

That two second delay could let an elevator door close on a firefighter with full gear. Seattle's high rise fire in 2019 showed us exactly why those timings are life or death. Calling it nitpicking misses the point of the code entirely.

Wait, people actually think that's nitpicking? I mean, codes are written in blood for a reason. That delay sounds like a huge deal.

Reminds me of a building manager who fought similar code updates to save money.
