Brand new controller board dead on arrival at a hospital in Milwaukee

I got called to a service job at St. Mary's last Tuesday. Threw in a brand new G.A.L. MCE controller board that we ordered direct. Fired it up and the thing just smoked on the main relay within 30 seconds. Had to pull it, call the supplier fuming, and limp the old one back in place while they overnighted a replacement. Anyone else run into a DOA board from a major manufacturer lately?

Oh, you're serious? A brand new board smoking out in 30 seconds at a hospital of all places? That's wild, I would've been absolutely livid too.

Preheat the old board first next time, saves the smoke test.

Man I feel you on that one. I had an old power supply pop on me last month and it was a real bummer watching all that money go up in smoke. Preheating is definitely one of those tricks I wish someone had told me about sooner.
