Had a 15 year old Dover governor cable snap on me yesterday in the middle of a full load test

Fifteen years is a long time for a cable to hold up. That's a scary failure point during a test.

What kind of tests were you running on it? Were you just plugging and unplugging it a bunch, or did you have it under some kind of load? A cable that old failing during a stress check is a pretty clear sign it was way past its time.
