Had a call for a stuck car at the old hospital downtown last month
Everyone said it was a classic rope slip, but the governor was actually jammed with a chunk of concrete from a shaft repair. I had to clear it by hand with a pry bar and a flashlight, took about two hours. The crew doing the repair didn't sweep the pit properly. Anyone else run into weird debris causing a governor lock?

Ever have one of those days where you feel like the elevator repair janitor? I swear, I've pulled out everything from a wad of chewed gum holding a limit switch to a whole screwdriver someone dropped down the hoistway. That concrete chunk sounds brutal though, two hours with a pry bar is a real back killer. Makes my gum cleanup look easy.

A whole screwdriver? That's a new one. At least gum doesn't try to fight back when you pull it off. That concrete chunk sounds like it was putting up more of a fight than the elevator itself.

Honestly though, is a screwdriver in an elevator shaft really that big a deal? It's just a piece of metal sitting there, not like it's actively jamming the gears. The concrete block sounds way worse, actually stuck in the works. Some of this stuff just seems like minor cleanup, not a full on repair battle.
