I always thought the old way to set a governor was good enough until a job in Phoenix

We had a call for a sticking door on a 15 story building, and my partner showed me his trick with a laser level to check the rail alignment first. Found a quarter inch bow in the guide rail about 30 feet up that was pulling everything out of whack. How many of you check the rails before you even touch the governor assembly?

I mean, of course the rail is bowed. It's Phoenix, the whole city is basically warped from the heat. That laser probably showed the door trying to lean into the one spot of shade in the entire state. Bet you found a lizard governor up there too, just sunning itself on the assembly.

But does it actually cause any real problems?

Honestly that heat expansion is factored into the engineering specs from day one. Those systems are built to handle way worse.

Handled way worse" sounds like a challenge Phoenix is happy to accept lol. Bet the engineers put in AC for the control panels too.
