Picked a Kone MRL over an Otis Gen2 for a 6-stop job in Austin
Had to choose between these two machine-room-less models for a low-rise office building. Went with the Kone because the delivery timeline was 4 weeks shorter and the controller layout was way easier for my guys to work on. Installation went smooth except for one headache with the door operator alignment that cost me an extra half day. The Otis would have had better parts availability locally, but saving 4 weeks on the schedule made it worth it. Anyone else run into alignment issues with Kone doors on new installs?

Oh man, those Kone door operators are a real pain until you tweak the track just right.

Did you try loosening up the door track bolts a quarter turn before tightening them again? @vera_johnson9 is right, those operators need tiny adjustments to track right.

Man I gotta disagree on loosening those track bolts, @ruby_jones. I've been fighting those Kone operators for years and the track bolts being loose just gives you a door that wobbles before it binds up. You want them snug but not cranked down, sure, but a quarter turn loose invites slop. I've had better luck shimming the track mounts a hair instead, like a thin piece of plastic or a washer, to get that alignment perfect. Those operators are so picky that even a millimeter off will make them grind on the way back.
