That one door lock switch ate up my whole Tuesday
Had a call at the old county courthouse in Salem, car kept skipping floors. I spent almost 4 hours chasing a phantom fault, checked the encoder, the brake, even redid the leveling. Turned out it was a worn down door lock roller switch that only acted up when the temperature dropped below 50. Has anyone else had a simple limit switch turn into a whole day ordeal?

Those M2-2 rollers in old drafty courthouses are cursed, I swear. Did yours have that little plastic cam that gets hairline cracks you can barely see until you pull it off the shaft?

Ngl I gotta hard disagree on this one. I've worked on those M2-2 rollers for years and honestly the plastic cam thing is way overblown. I've seen them hold up fine even in old drafty courthouses with no issues. The real problem is usually just people not seating the shaft right or using cheap aftermarket parts. I've swapped out dozens of those rollers and only maybe one or two had a real crack that mattered. Tbh half the time when someone blames the roller, it's actually something else like a bad motor or a loose wire.

That M2-2 roller switch at the old Essex County courthouse in Salem got me good a few years back. I used to think door lock switches were the most boring, predictable part of a car, not worth a second glance. But after one started failing only when the temp dropped below 45 and I wasted half a shift replacing the main drive board, I learned my lesson. Now I always check those little plastic rollers first if there's any weird intermittent behavior, especially in older buildings with drafty shafts.
