DAE spend forever trying to open cans until a friend showed you the hinge trick? Felt like a lightbulb went off!

Watched my roommate fight a can of tomato soup for like five minutes, stabbing the lid with the opener until it looked like a crime scene. I finally had to step in and show her how to hook the opener under the rim at the hinge point. Her mind was completely blown. She'd been making it a strength test this whole time. The whole kitchen felt like we'd just uncovered some lost ancient technology.

Why did my lightbulb moment come after years of struggling?

For ten years, I tackled every home repair like a battle of wills... just forcing things until they worked. I thought stubbornness was the same as skill, you know? But then I saw my neighbor fix a leaky faucet with a gentle touch instead of more force... that changed everything for me. It was like that can opener moment... all my struggling had been missing the simple trick. Now I see why lightbulb moments come after years of fighting it... you have to wear out all the wrong ideas first. The right way seems obvious only after you've exhausted every other option.
