Hot take: I thought the 'gratitude journal' thing was just a fad

My therapist in Denver convinced me to try it for a week, writing three things each night. On day four, I caught myself smiling about a good coffee I had that morning, something I normally would have just forgotten. Has anyone else had a simple practice actually shift their mood like that?

And yeah @lewis.terry that adrenaline rush is real. One of my friends tried the gratitude thing too, she was super skeptical about it. But she said one night she wrote down noticing how the sunset hit her kitchen window just right, and it made her actually stop and watch it instead of just rushing past. She texted me about it the next day saying she felt this weird little calm feeling the whole evening. So it's not like a magic fix or anything, but sometimes noticing one tiny good thing can break a bad mood loop. That's what got me to actually try it for more than a week.

My nightly walk did the same trick for me.

Oh the nightly walk trick. I mean, it's great until you almost step on a skunk and your heart rate does more cardio than the actual walk.

But that surprise adrenaline rush is honestly part of the fun for me.
