I chose to quit my job and move to a small town in Maine. The other option was staying put.
Had a stable office job in Boston for 8 years. The other path was staying there, getting the next promotion. Picked Maine. Packed up and left 4 months ago. The quiet here is different. I notice things I never did before, like how the light changes over the bay. Has anyone else made a big jump like this and had their priorities completely reshuffle?

Honestly, my biggest leap was switching from regular coffee to decaf after 3 PM, and that felt like moving to a different planet. But for real, leaving a stable job after that long takes guts. I bet the quiet makes your old office buzz feel like a bad dream. It's wild how your brain starts to care about sunsets over spreadsheets.

Ha, my biggest leap was just finding my car keys.

Totally get that, my version was finally switching to a dumb phone on weekends. Felt like a huge win when I stopped checking emails every five minutes. Now I actually notice stuff like birds being loud or my neighbor's weird lawn ornaments, lol.

Honestly, I get it. I mean, sometimes you don't realize how much the noise was drowning out your own thoughts until you just... walk away from it. It's scary but also kind of freeing to find out what actually matters to you when there's nothing to distract you from it.
