I finally saw the warning signs at Sunset Point overlook last weekend
Headed up to Sunset Point overlook north of Flagstaff last Saturday around 6pm. Noticed maybe 12 people standing right at the edge of the cliff taking selfies, no railing, loose gravel everywhere. Two kids were chasing each other maybe 3 feet from a 200 foot drop. Nobody even looked down at the unstable ground. I get wanting a good photo, but that whole spot is an accident waiting to happen. Has anyone else seen people get sketchy close to edges up there?

Just let people be adults honestly. I've been up there a dozen times and yeah it's loose gravel but you'd have to be really clueless to actually fall... it's not like the edge is hidden or anything. The kids thing is on their parents, not on the overlook itself. People take risks every day crossing streets or driving cars, this is barely different. I dunno, railing would ruin the whole point of a natural viewpoint anyway.

I was up there two summers ago and saw a guy back up for a group photo with his foot already over the edge, like he didn't even check before stepping. Best thing you can do is call the ranger station ahead of time to ask about trail conditions and safe viewpoints, they're usually happy to steer you away from the sketchy spots. Really wish they'd just put up a simple cable railing before someone gets hurt.
