Just realized my old way of handling a broken appointment book was pointless

My paper schedule got soaked in a freak leak last week and all the ink ran. I spent an hour trying to dry it and piece it together before it hit me that I was just clinging to a broken system. Has anyone else had a simple tool failure force a change they actually liked?

Why is everyone so quick to trash a system that works? Dakota415 asked what you switched to, but maybe you shouldn't have switched at all. A paper book is simple and reliable. It doesn't need a battery or an update. My friend's digital calendar crashed and lost a whole month of client meetings. That leak was a fluke. A waterproof notebook or a quick photocopy of your pages would have fixed it without forcing you to learn some new app that probably sells your data.

What's the new system you switched to after the ink ran?

My uncle still uses a 1992 Filofax he found at a yard sale.
