The mechanic said my catalytic converter was clogged, which made me realize I'd been ignoring a bunch of small performance issues for months because I was too busy to deal with it.

Slow buildup's the killer. You don't notice it until one day you're stuck on the shoulder. By then it's too late to just flush it out.

I mean joel's right about stuff sneaking up on you. I saw a thing where betty_wells is onto something about the slow buildup, it's more about bad driving habits than the gas itself. Just lets gunk pile up over time.

Honestly cheap gas doesn't usually clog converters, that's a slow buildup.
