My old truck's transmission gave out on the highway near Tucson last Tuesday.
I was stuck for three hours waiting for a tow, just watching the sunset and realizing how much I rely on things I never think about. Anyone else have a breakdown that made you stop and see things differently?

Count your blessings it wasn't Phoenix in July... that sun doesn't play around.

Wait, did you mean the transmission gave out or was it something else? I only ask because my uncle's a mechanic in Phoenix and he says people mix up transmission failure with torque converter problems all the time lol. That feeling of being stuck though, that's real. Makes you notice every single car that zooms by while you're just sitting there. Hope you got a decent tow truck driver at least.

Right, because nothing says "fun afternoon" like sitting in a dead car watching everyone else live their lives while you're questioning every life choice that led you to that exact moment. At least my tow truck driver was nice enough to not make fun of me for having a half-eaten bag of chips in the passenger seat, so I'm counting that as a win.

So your uncle's a mechanic, @violaramirez, what's the actual fix cost difference between those two problems?
