My trusty old Wacom tablet finally gave up the ghost during a big client deadline last Friday.

I was in the middle of a vector trace when the pen just stopped registering pressure. The sudden quiet made me realize I'd been relying on that single piece of gear for almost eight years without a backup plan. Anyone else have a piece of creative tech fail at the worst time, and what did you switch to?

Remember my buddy's Cintiq screen just went black right before a big pitch. He had to run out and buy the first basic tablet he could find, which honestly worked fine for the job. It's crazy how these things always seem to break at the worst possible moment.

Classic, @emma_flores. The universe has a sense of timing.

That's just how tech works, it waits for the worst time to fail. It feels like a weird rule of the universe, like toast always landing butter side down. Makes you wonder why we never learn to have a backup ready?
