Pro tip: don't buy a $200 'smart' water bottle that yells at you

I thought it would help me drink more, but the app just kept sending me push notifications to 'hydrate for optimal cognitive function' while I was in a meeting. Has anyone else wasted cash on tech that was more annoying than helpful?

Bought one of those last year. Ended up just using a regular bottle with time markers on the side. Way less hassle.

My sharpie lines always ended up looking like a sad little graph of my failure.

Oh man, I get that, but the markers on my bottle always rubbed off after a few washes. I had to keep redrawing them with a sharpie. The whole point for me was to stop thinking about it, you know? With the marked bottle I was still checking the lines all day.

Wait, people actually draw on their water bottles with Sharpie? That blows my mind a little. I would have that thing smeared all over my hands in ten minutes flat. But I guess it beats spending two hundred bucks on a bottle that basically bullies you during meetings, right?
