Shoutout to the guy who told me to try a 'no phone' hour after my kid's soccer game
I was just sitting on the bleachers scrolling like always after the game ended. This other dad I sometimes chat with said 'you ever just sit and watch them mess around after? it's the best part.' I tried it the next Saturday, left my phone in the car. For that whole hour, I just watched my son and his friends kicking a ball, laughing, making up dumb games. I realized I'd been missing the actual point of being there for months, just to check scores and emails. It felt so simple but it totally flipped a switch for me. Anyone else try something like this with their kid's activities?

My daughter's swim meets were my phone time until I tried leaving it in the bag for one event. I actually saw her nail her flip turn and the huge grin after, which I'd normally miss. That one meet changed how I do all her stuff now.

That's a really good reminder. It's crazy how easy it is to miss the little moments. Might have to try that myself next weekend.

Nah, you gotta keep the phone out. What if you miss a great shot for the family album? Joel_clark37 might have seen one flip turn, but what about the other ten races? You can catch the replay later. Plus, you can text updates to grandparents or check work stuff during the boring heats. It's about balancing being there and staying connected.
