That time I stopped forcing myself to be a morning person

For years I got up at 5 AM because every self-help blog swore that was the secret to success. I would drag myself through coffee and brain fog until like 10 AM. Then about 6 months ago I picked up a night shift at a diner in Spokane and realized my best thinking happens at midnight. Has anyone else felt a ton of pressure to follow the "early bird" thing even though it just doesn't fit your brain?

Honestly, I have to push back a little here. Ngl, waking up early worked for me because it gave me quiet time before the world got loud. Tbh, I think people blame the schedule when it's really about sleep quality or discipline. Your brain might work best at midnight, but that doesn't mean early birds are wrong for everyone. Maybe the pressure you felt was from trying to copy someone else's routine instead of finding your own. Just saying, both ways can work if you actually commit and don't fight your body the whole time.

@patricia_gonzalez is right, my brain works best at midnight but so does my fridge apparently.

What about the folks who work night shifts and don't have a choice, @patricia_gonzalez?
