A client in Austin had a bad reaction to a new enzyme peel last week
She came in for a regular facial, and I used a sample of the 'Revive' enzyme peel I got at a trade show. Within 10 minutes, her skin got really red and started to feel hot, even though the patch test was fine. I had to stop the service and use a cool compress for like 20 minutes to calm it down. Has anyone else had a client react to a product even after a patch test?

My cousin in Dallas had a similar thing happen with a sunscreen sample.

Dallas seems to be the hotspot for weird sunscreen stories. I mean, what is it about that Texas sun that makes samples go rogue? Maybe they're just built different down there. My friend got one that smelled exactly like a burnt tortilla, no joke.

That patch test thing is wild. @mary414, did your cousin's reaction happen right away or was it a delayed thing? I'm wondering if some of these samples are just too strong for a full face application, even if a tiny spot on the arm seems okay. Like, maybe the skin on the face is way more sensitive, or the product reacts differently when it's spread out. It makes me nervous about trying anything new without doing a test on the actual cheek or jawline first.

Yeah, the patch test is basically a polite suggestion at this point. Between your peel and @mary414's cousin's sunscreen, it sounds like samples are just Russian roulette for skin. Maybe they're testing the products on us.
