Can we talk about the actual pH of tap water in different cities and how it affects peels?
I read a study from the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology that found the tap water in Phoenix has a pH of 8.5 on average, which is why my neutralizer wasn't working as fast until I started using a pre-peel pH-balancing toner.

Yeah, that explains why my last peel felt like I was just washing my face. Should have tested my water instead of blaming my shaky hands.

Honestly, the bigger issue is how much the pH can swing day to day depending on what the treatment plant is doing.

How are people even supposed to keep a consistent routine if the water chemistry is just rolling the dice every time the treatment plant makes a change? Seems like we're all out here blaming our products or ourselves when the real problem is coming right out of the faucet. Do you know if there's any way to check what the local plant is doing day to day, or are we just stuck guessing?

Remember reading about a town where the water pH changed so much it messed up people's home brewing? Makes you wonder if that's why my skin care feels different some weeks, like the cleanser just sits on top or stings for no reason. I guess if they're adding more chemicals at the plant to clean it, our tap water isn't really a stable thing to begin with. Do you use a filter or just test it every time?
