I used to roll my eyes at gua sha, but my client's results changed my mind
For years, I thought gua sha was just a fancy placebo, a nice add-on for a spa day but not real skincare. I had a client come in about six months ago with stubborn jawline tension and puffiness that facials weren't fully fixing. She asked if I did gua sha, and I admitted I didn't really believe in it. She brought her own rose quartz tool the next visit and asked me to just try it on one side of her face. I did a basic routine for about five minutes. The difference was immediate. The side I worked on looked visibly more lifted and relaxed, and she said it felt way better. I started adding a quick gua sha pass to my lymphatic drainage routines, and now I see clients booking specifically for it. Has anyone else had a tool or method they doubted that actually worked out?

Did you ever try it on yourself first, or was seeing it on a client what convinced you?

Tried it myself first, @ellis.faith, and let's just say the client looked way better.

Oh man, that's the real test. I always patch test on my own skin, like a small spot behind the ear, for a full 24 hours. You never know how your own face will react until you try it. Saved myself from a bad rash more than once that way.

Mason's right about the patch test, but I'd take it even further. A full 24 hours is good, but sometimes a reaction takes longer to show up. I test for a full 48 hours on that inner arm spot. It's more sensitive for some people. I also re-test if I change a formula even slightly. Your skin can change over time too, so what was fine last year might not be now. It's a bit of extra work, but it beats dealing with a bad reaction all over your face or neck.
