My buddy's skin reaction made me rethink at-home peels

I used to tell people those gentle at-home chemical peels were totally safe for anyone. But my friend tried one without checking her skin type first and got a nasty burn. Now I always ask about sensitivity before saying anything.

Reminds me of the time my cousin tried to dye her own hair black with one of those box kits. She left it on way too long trying to get it really dark, and her scalp was red and peeling for a week. She had to wear a hat everywhere.

Cringed at the part about the nasty burn. You were giving that advice before and a single bad reaction made you stop. That must have been an impressively bad burn to completely flip your view like that.

Honestly, it really was that bad. Seeing someone's skin blister up like that from something I suggested, it wasn't just a theory anymore. It made all the old advice feel reckless in a real, physical way. You don't forget that kind of result, and it rewires your thinking completely.

That one case rewired your whole view?

But people have bad reactions to all sorts of things. How do you know it wasn't just a weird one-off allergy?
