Rant: I had to choose between a $300 facial steamer and a $80 one for my new spot

Went with the cheaper one because I'm just starting out, and honestly, the mist is too weak for a proper extraction. Anyone have a solid mid-range brand they actually trust?

Is a fancy steamer really that important? I've seen people do extractions with just a hot washcloth (it works fine). Nancyj11 is right about the weak mist, but I'm not sold that you need some high-tech machine. My old $40 one from the drugstore got my face plenty steamy for blackheads. It feels like another thing we're told we need to buy.

That cheap steamer mist is basically just warm breath in a jar. My sister had one that couldn't even fog up a bathroom mirror. You need something with a real pump, not just a heated cup of water. Look for ones that list PSI or talk about a fine, pressurized mist. The difference in getting your pores ready is huge.

Got to disagree with the pressure thing.

I read this beauty blog that said the steam needs to actually penetrate, not just sit on the skin. So maybe the pressure does matter for that. Idk, my cheap one never really did much.
