Appreciation post: The recycling bin at my local park suddenly had a sign with photos of what goes where.

I used to just toss stuff in blindly for years, but after seeing people actually pause and separate their bottles from their wrappers correctly for the first time last week, I realized a simple picture guide changed more behavior than any city ordinance ever could; has anyone else noticed small visual cues actually shifting how people act in public spaces?

I mean, it's a picture of a bottle on a bin, not exactly a eureka moment for the ages. People can probably figure out plastic from paper without a photo guide, it's not that complicated. More like a gentle reminder for the folks who treat every bin like a trash can buffet than a total behavior shift.

Right? Visuals work better than words every time, it's wild.

Gentle reminder for the folks who treat every bin like a trash can buffet" sent me ngl. That's such a perfect way to put it, some people really just give up at the sight of a recycling symbol. Makes me wonder how many bins they've personally violated before this sign went up.
