Changed my mind about AI art after a bad week

I used to think AI art was just cheating, no skill involved. But last Tuesday I had a terrible day at work and came home too tired to even hold a pencil. I typed a few words into an art bot and it made something that actually matched the picture in my head for once. It made me realize the tool is just another way to create, not a replacement for real artists. Has anyone else had a moment where using tech felt more like a lifeline than a shortcut?

Honestly, I had a similar thing happen with a music generator last month. My grandmother passed away and I couldn't stand the sound of my own guitar, so I fed it a description of her humming in the garden and it spit out this weird lo-fi track that actually felt like her. It wasn't a shortcut to making art, it was a way to keep making art when my brain was junk. Ngl, that tool got me through the week more than any therapy app could have.

Wait, I gotta admit @jana_jones - I was one of those people who was all "ai art is cheating" until I read this. That's actually beautiful man, like using the tool to remember your grandma instead of trying to replace anything. Kinda changes how I look at this whole thing lol.

using the tool to remember your grandma instead of trying to replace anything" - that's the key right there. I've done similar stuff with old photos and it hits different when you're not trying to make something impressive, just honest. Have you tried playing with the settings to make it more raw and less polished?
