Had to decide whether to let my kid use a face-swap app for a school project
The project was on historical figures for his 5th grade class in Austin. He wanted to use Reface to put his face on a video of Lincoln. I said no, worried about normalizing deepfake tech for kids. We used old photos and a voice recorder instead. Anyone else dealt with schools using this kind of software?

Tried a green screen for our project instead.

Seems like a lot of work for a school project. Green screens are cool but maybe overkill. Could have just used a solid wall.

My friend tried that last semester, @margareto26. They spent hours filming in front of a wrinkled green sheet. The editing software turned their hair a weird color and the whole background looked fake. They ended up redoing the video against a plain wall the night before it was due. It was a total mess and added so much stress. Sometimes simple is just better.
