I paid $400 for a 'smart' home security camera and now I'm not sure who's watching

Got one of those cameras that uses facial recognition to tell you who's at the door... it even sends alerts if it spots a 'stranger'. It worked, but then I realized it's constantly uploading video of my porch, my neighbors, and anyone walking by to some company's server. For $400, I bought a lot of convenience and a huge privacy question. Has anyone else felt weird about giving a machine that much data on your daily life?

My smart fridge tracks my food, which reminds me of what @paige331 said about video data.

I read that some companies sell that video data to train other AI systems.

Yeah that part about selling video data is so creepy. I saw a deep dive on how much of our stuff gets scraped without us knowing, totally lines up with what @paige331 said. Makes you wonder what else they're doing with it, right?
