My video call glitch flipped my view on boss spyware
I was all for my job using software to check if remote workers were really working. Then during a team meeting, it said I was slacking off just because I paused to think. Everyone heard it and it was so embarrassing, like getting called out in class. Now I get that this kind of tracking can mess with trust and make people feel watched. That awkward moment totally changed my take on whether it's right to monitor employees like that.

Watch this creep into everything now. My grocery store tracks my phone to see what aisles I stop in. Even my car reports back on how I drive. It all adds up to feeling like you can't breathe without being scored. Turns normal life into a constant test.

My gym started using face scans last month. They say it's faster, but it just adds to being watched all the time. We're giving up privacy bit by bit without thinking.

Remember hearing about my friend's smartwatch data getting used in her annual review. Her boss actually pulled up her sleep stats to suggest she was "low energy" in morning meetings. Felt like such a violation for something she bought to get healthier. Honestly made me side-eye any data collection at work after that.
